Booking Deadline

Bookings must be received by the closing date of the course (see Dates section below).
For bookings received after the closing date there will be a late booking fee of £5.00.

Camping Fee

If camping, there is a camping fee of £13.00 (£6.50 per night) per person.

Wet Suits

These can be borrowed for windsurfing session only, but must be reserved in advance of the course.

Data Privacy

To administer the courses effectively and safely, personal and sensitive (health) information is recorded on the application form and used to set up and manage the courses. Please refer to the Privacy Notice in the Downloads section if you require details about how this information will be used and retained.

Photographs

Photographs may be taken for promotional and for training purposes.

Health and Safety

Safety is of paramount importance to us, so please ensure you tell us of and health of medical conditions you may have on the application form so we can prepare and cater for any special requirements. Also, if these change after completing the applications form and before the course takes place, please update us at the earliest opportunity. Note, water activities are strenuous activites and if you are in any doubt about you ability to cope, please discuss this with us and consult your doctor.

Applications

Course bookings can be made by post, sending applications forms/cheques or by e-mailing the application forms to the booking Secretary and then paying by bank transfer AFTER the booking as been provisionally confirmed.

To book by post, please send an application form to Mike Marks (see Contacts section below).

Cheques should be made payable to Bewl Water Scout & Guide Committee. Please enclose a large stamped addressed envelope when booking by post so that booking confirmation and joining instructions can be issued.

To book by e-mail, please attach a copy of the scanned application form to the Booking e-mail address (see Contacts section below). If places are available, this will be confirmed by e-mail and they will be reserved for 7 days to give time to pay the full course fee by bank transfer, details will be supplied in the confirmation e-mail.

On receipt of the bank transfer confirmation and joining instructions will be e-mailed.

Bookings are only confirmed on application forms with the full (non-refundable) course fee.

Telephone bookings are not accepted, but call to check availability.

Joining Instructions

The weekend courses start on Friday evening at 20:30 and finish on Sunday at approximately 17:00. Please arrive between 18:00 and 19:30 and book in before pitching tents and setting up your campsite. In wet weather you may not be permitted to drive onto the grass.

If attending just for a Saturday please arrive by 8:45 to book in. The day finishes at 20:30.

What To Bring

General Gear

  • Own tents, sleeping bag and mat, camping and cooking equipment if camping on weekend courses.
  • Plastic bag for your wet gear.
  • Warm dry clothes for the end of each day.
  • Towel(s) and wash kit.
  • Food for day/weekend.

What to bring/wear on the water - you will get wet!

  • Cagoule and Overtrousers – to protect from wind and spray (not the rain).
  • Trainers (wetsuit boots are better).
  • Wetsuit if owned but not essential unless participating in windsurfing course.
  • Track suit.
  • Shorts x 4.
  • T-shirts x 4.
  • Fleeces x 4.
  • Hat (sun protection).
  • Sunscreen (waterproof).
  • If you wear glasses bring a cord/string/strap to secure them.
  • NO bare feet, flip flops, boots, jeans, rings, earrings, necklaces, jewellery etc.

All activity equipment is provided including bouyancy aids. If you bring your own equipment it must meet Scout regulations and is your responsibility. Equipment will be inspected to confirm it is safe.

For Canoeists: If you are over 6 feet tall, and/or weigh more than 13 stone, and/or have size 9+ feet let us know before the weekend, otherwise we will not have a boat that fits you!
